GTA 5 isn’t on GeForce NOW, but you can play it in the cloud

Own it on PC: Boosteroid. Do not own it: PlayStation Plus Premium. Both work today.

Boosteroid streams the PC version from your own account, so the first thing you need is to own GTA V on Steam, Epic, the Rockstar Games Launcher or the Microsoft Store. Boosteroid lists the Microsoft Store copy under Xbox; an Xbox console copy does not count. Epic gave the game away in May 2020, and many people own it there without remembering. Check your Epic library before buying a second copy.

1. Create an account at Boosteroid, find GTA V and run the connection test from the device and network you will play on. What matters for driving and aiming is the delay, not the download speed, and the test measures it.
2. Subscribe on boosteroid.com. Ultra is enough for GTA V: €16.89 a month, or €7.49 a month paid by the year. Ultra Pro (€74.89 for six months, or €11.24 a month by the year) runs the same machine and adds a choice of server, a longer idle allowance and more viewer seats. Take a month first; the yearly price is for once the connection has proved itself.
3. Install the Boosteroid app (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Android TV, Samsung and LG TVs) or open the web client; on iPhone and iPad it runs in Safari.
4. Search GTA V and pick your store and edition. Enhanced is the 2025 version with ray tracing; Legacy is the original. For GTA Online, take the one your friends play: Rockstar’s migration to Enhanced is one-way, and the two versions keep separate progress afterwards.
5. Press Play, sign in to the store that owns the game, then to Rockstar Social Club. The first launch installs the game on the cloud machine, which takes a few minutes; later launches are immediate.
6. Plug in a controller or play on keyboard and mouse; on a phone or a TV you need a controller. Saves sync through Rockstar’s cloud, so a save from your own PC carries over. When you stop, quit through the game’s menu, not by closing the tab, so the save reaches the cloud.

GTA V joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in November 2025 for Extra and Premium members. Premium is the tier that adds cloud streaming, the service that used to be called PlayStation Now, on a PS5 or a PlayStation Portal. You do not buy the game, and you get the PS5 version, with its ray-tracing modes. It is the only way to stream GTA V without owning it.

1. Subscribe to Premium (prices for your country). Extra can download the game but not stream it, and in countries where the top tier is called Deluxe there is no streaming at all.
2. On a PS5, open GTA V in the Game Catalog and choose Stream instead of Download. On a PlayStation Portal, switch to Cloud Streaming and pick GTA V. Take the full game if you want Story Mode as well as GTA Online.
3. Play with the DualSense on the PS5, or with the Portal’s own controls. The Portal streams from Sony’s servers, so no PS5 needs to be running at home.

For a Mac or a phone, use Boosteroid. If GTA V is installed on a console at home, Remote Play streams that console to your device; it is not a cloud service.

GTA V was on GeForce NOW during the beta, until Rockstar pulled its games in August 2019, with no notice and no explanation. In May 2020 NVIDIA moved the service to publisher opt-in, and Rockstar never opted back in. NVIDIA’s own staff explained on the forum that without Rockstar’s permission they cannot add it. Rockstar has never said why in public. Nothing from Rockstar is on GeForce NOW today: not GTA V, not GTA Online, not Red Dead Redemption 2. Owning the game on Steam or Epic, or paying for Ultimate, changes nothing. The request thread is the most active on NVIDIA’s forum, seven years on.

GeForce NOW needs the publisher’s permission, and Rockstar has not given it since 2019. Boosteroid streams the same Steam copy.

Not anymore. GTA V was in Game Pass, and streamable on Xbox Cloud Gaming, from April 15, 2025 to April 15, 2026. That was its fourth run, after 2020, 2021 and 2023, and there is no date for a fifth. Xbox’s stream-your-own-game feature, which lets members stream games they own, carries no Rockstar title at all. No. Luna dropped its EA, Ubisoft and GOG libraries on June 10, 2026, so there is no way to bring a copy you own to it.
