GTA 5 isn’t on GeForce NOW, but you can play it in the cloud

Two services stream GTA V today: Boosteroid with the PC copy you own, and PlayStation Plus Premium from the catalogue, no purchase needed. Step by step for each, and why GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud Gaming do not have it.

Quick answer

Two ways, both working today. Boosteroid streams the PC version of GTA V you own on Steam, Rockstar Games, Epic or Fanatical, at up to 4K and 120 fps, from €7.49 a month. PlayStation Plus Premium streams it from the Game Catalog with no purchase, on a PS5, a PS4, a PC or the PlayStation Portal. GTA Online works on both. GeForce NOW does not have it and has not since 2020; Xbox Cloud Gaming lost it when it left Game Pass on April 15, 2026.

The Extended Look sent a lot of people back to Los Santos, and a lot of them do not have a gaming PC or a console within reach. GTA V streams from two services right now, and this page is the step by step for each, what you need to own, and what it costs. Then the two services everybody asks about first, and why they are the ones without it. Availability comes from the same catalogue as our GTA V game page, which updates daily.

How to play GTA 5 on Boosteroid

Boosteroid streams the PC version from your own account, so the first thing you need is to own GTA V on Steam, the Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic or Fanatical. Epic gave it away free in May 2020, and a lot of people own it there without remembering; check your Epic library before buying a second copy.

  • Subscribe on boosteroid.com: €7.49 a month by the year, or the Ultra Pro plan for 4K and 120 fps. No plan has an hour cap.
  • Install the Boosteroid app (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Android TV, Samsung and LG TVs) or open the web client; on iPhone and iPad it runs in Safari.
  • Search GTA V in the library, pick the store you own it on, and press Play.
  • Sign in to Steam (or Epic, or Rockstar) inside the session, then to Rockstar Social Club. The first launch installs the game on the cloud machine, which takes a few minutes; later launches are immediate.
  • Plug in a controller or play on keyboard and mouse. Saves sync through Rockstar’s cloud, so a save from your own PC carries over. GTA Online works on the same copy.

The Standard plans stream at 1080p; for GTA V that is fine on a laptop or a phone, and worth the Ultra Pro upgrade on a 4K TV. The Boosteroid vs GeForce NOW guide has the full picture on price and plans.

How to play GTA 5 on PlayStation Plus

GTA V joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in November 2025 for Extra and Premium members. Premium is the tier that adds cloud streaming, the service that used to be called PlayStation Now. You do not buy the game, and you get the PS5 version, the only one with ray tracing. It is the only way to stream GTA V without owning it.

  • Subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium (prices for your country); Extra can download it but not stream it.
  • On a PS5 or a PS4, open GTA V in the Game Catalog and choose Stream instead of Download. On a Windows PC, install the PS Plus app and sign in; on the PlayStation Portal, switch to cloud streaming.
  • A DualSense or DualShock controller is required on PC. There is no Mac, Android or iOS app for PS Plus streaming; a Mac or a phone can only use Remote Play from a console you own.
  • GTA Online is included, on the PS5 version.

The catch is that Sony’s catalogue rotates, and Rockstar games have left it before. Check our GTA V page on the day you subscribe.

Why is GTA 5 not on GeForce NOW?

GTA V was on GeForce NOW during the beta. When the service left beta in February 2020, publishers had to opt in, and Rockstar did not. NVIDIA’s own staff explained on the forum that without Rockstar’s permission they cannot add it. Rockstar has never said why in public. Nothing from Rockstar is on GeForce NOW today: not GTA V, not GTA Online, not Red Dead Redemption 2, and owning the game on Steam changes nothing. The request thread is the most active on NVIDIA’s forum, six years on.

GeForce NOW needs the publisher’s yes. Rockstar has not given it since 2020. Boosteroid runs the same Steam copy, and does.

Is GTA 5 on Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Not any more. GTA V was in Game Pass, and streamable on Xbox Cloud Gaming, from April 15, 2025 to April 15, 2026. It has been in and out four times, and it will likely be back, but there is no date. Xbox’s stream-your-own-game feature, which lets Ultimate members stream owned games, does not include GTA V at the time of writing. Our Xbox Cloud page tracks the catalogue.

Is GTA 5 on Amazon Luna?

No. Luna has never carried a Rockstar game, and its Ubisoft and GOG channels do not include one.

The rest of Rockstar in the cloud

Boosteroid carries most of the PC back catalogue with a Steam copy. This list reads from the live catalogue, so a game that leaves a service leaves the list.

And for the question behind the question this week: can you play GTA 6 in the cloud.

Questions

Can I play GTA 5 in the cloud without buying it?

Yes, with PlayStation Plus Premium: GTA V is in the Game Catalog and Premium streams it on a PS5, a PS4, a Windows PC or the PlayStation Portal. Boosteroid needs your own PC copy.

Can I play GTA 5 on my phone?

Yes, through Boosteroid’s Android app or the iOS browser client with your PC copy. PS Plus streaming has no phone app. Both need a controller.

Can I play GTA 5 on a Mac?

Yes, through Boosteroid’s macOS app with a PC copy. There is no native Mac version and no PS Plus streaming app for Mac.

Can I play GTA Online in the cloud?

Yes, on Boosteroid with your PC copy, and on PlayStation Plus Premium with the PS5 version. Both use Rockstar’s normal online servers.

Why is GTA 5 not on GeForce NOW?

Rockstar did not opt in when GeForce NOW left beta in 2020, and has not since. NVIDIA cannot add a game without the publisher’s agreement. Owning it on Steam does not matter.

Is GTA 5 on Game Pass in 2026?

Not since April 15, 2026. It has come and gone four times; there is no date for a return.

Does a Boosteroid subscription include GTA 5?

No. Boosteroid includes no games. You bring your own copy from Steam, Rockstar Games, Epic or Fanatical.
