Since August 31, Crimson Desert has a demo on Twitch. It is not a download. The game runs on Amazon’s servers and streams to your browser tab, so a laptop that cannot run Crimson Desert can still play it. Pearl Abyss had said in February that the game was hard to demo, and it launched on March 19 without one.
How to start the demo
- Open twitch.tv/gl/crimsondesert in a desktop browser. Phones and tablets are not supported.
- Tick the box confirming you are an adult. Crimson Desert is rated Mature 17+ for violence, blood and language, and the Start demo button stays grayed out until you do.
- Press Start demo. The game starts in a few seconds, with no launcher, no account link and no install.
- Play. You are Kliff, on the continent of Pywel, and the 20 minutes count from the moment the game starts.
Nothing installs on your machine and your graphics card is not involved. The page at Twitch is the game itself, running on an Amazon GameLift Streams server, with the picture sent to your browser. Twitch shows it as an ad paid for by the publisher, with a Buy on Steam button at the end.
Where it works, and what you need
Twitch lists the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as the best experience. That is where the servers for this demo are. The page opens from other countries, and the stream gets worse with distance.
On your side you need a desktop browser, a wired connection or a good 5 GHz Wi-Fi signal, and enough bandwidth for a 1080p60 video stream. The distance to the server is the one thing you cannot change. Our network test measures your connection against cloud gaming data centers, so you know before you start.
After the 20 minutes

Why the demo is a stream
A downloadable demo has to be built, hosted, and installed, and many people never finish the install. A streamed demo skips all of that: you click, and a few seconds later you are playing. Amazon already ran the same 20-minute format on Twitch for ReAnimal, in the United States and Canada. GameLift Streams has been open to developers since March 2025, streams at up to 1080p and 60 frames per second to any modern browser, and added six regions in January.
