Cloud gaming data usage calculator
Find out how many gigabytes your stream could use, and how many hours fit in your data allowance. Adjust the numbers and share your estimate.

Use your stream’s bitrate, not your internet plan’s speed.
How long you expect to play on each gaming day.
Count only the days you plan to play, from 1 to 31.

Estimated monthly stream data
675 GB
2 hours × 30 gaming days at a sustained 25 Mbps.
575 GB over your gaming data budget.
This estimates stream data at a constant bitrate. Actual usage varies. Audio, network overhead, downloads and other apps can add to the total. A maximum bitrate setting is a ceiling, not a measured average.
How the estimate works
One hour at a sustained 1 Mbps transfers 0.45 GB. Multiply your stream bitrate by 0.45, then by the number of hours you play. We use decimal gigabytes: 1 GB = 1,000 MB.
GB = Mbps × 0.45 × hours
At 25 Mbps, that is 11.25 GB per hour. Two hours on each of 30 days would use 675 GB of stream data. A 100 GB gaming allowance would cover about 8.89 hours, before other traffic.
For a closer estimate, check your device or router’s data counter during a normal session. The calculator does not run a speed test or measure your actual consumption.
Which bitrate should I enter?
Use a measured stream average if you have one. Otherwise, try your streaming app’s bitrate setting as a planning scenario. Your broadband download speed is not your stream bitrate, and resolution alone does not determine data use.
GeForce NOW has custom streaming quality settings, including bitrate controls. NVIDIA notes that lowering bitrate can reduce data usage but also reduce picture quality. Settings and availability vary by device.

Common questions
Can I use this for GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming or Boosteroid?
Yes. The conversion works for any stream when you know its bitrate. It does not assume that different services use the same bitrate, or that every service lets you change it.
How much data does 1080p or 4K cloud gaming use?
There is no single figure for a resolution. Bitrate, frame rate, codec, the game on screen and automatic quality adjustments all affect consumption. Enter the bitrate of your stream instead of treating a resolution as a fixed GB-per-hour value.
Will my mobile data allowance be enough?
Enter the data you have left for gaming after other apps and devices. The tool estimates the hours that amount covers. Leave room for audio, network overhead and background traffic; this is not a guarantee that you will stay under your cap.
Is the calculator free?
Yes. No account or download is required. Calculations run in your browser. Copy result & link creates a shareable link containing the numbers you entered.
